Ireland
Ireland is a small country with a population of
just four million people. It is easily accessible from
all major European cities and is less than one hour by
air from London. The country has a rich history of
learning and culture which dates back many hundreds of
years to the time when monks were writing and
illustrating beautiful manuscripts, including the Book
of Kells. In more recent times, world famous writers
such as W.B. Yeats, Sean O'Casey, George Bernard Shaw,
Oscar Wilde, James Joyce and Samuel Beckett have added
to the wealth of Irish literature.
The music of U2, Enya, the Corrs and Westlife is
known world-wide and our traditional musical heritage
continues in the music of The Chieftans and The
Dubliners. |
